OVAC’s Grass Roots Lobby Day

Please join us in Washington, DC on March 4-5th and make your voice heard!

What is OVAC Lobby Day?

Our annual Grassroots Lobby Day brings together volunteers from around the country who will meet with their Members of Congress to advocate for increased funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Why should I participate?

With your support lawmakers will hear directly about the importance of funding for cancer research & prevention and connect policy to real life experience. This is an incredible opportunity for us to advocate for our priorities and tell lawmakers why this funding is so crucial to cancer patients, survivors, providers, researchers, and families.

Who can participate?

OVAC members and their volunteers are welcome! No prior advocacy experience is necessary.

Is the event covered financially?

Participation in OVAC’s Grassroots Lobby Day events is free to OVAC members and volunteers, but we are unable to cover transportation and accommodation expenses. We do, however, have some needs-based scholarships available to OVAC member organizations. Please contact Julie.Nickson@cancer.org for more details.

Where will the event take place?

On March 4th, the meeting preparation will take place at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill located at:
400 New Jersey Ave NW
Washington DC, 20001

On March 5th, we go to Capitol Hill for meetings on the Hill with Senators and Representatives.
